Storyline

Pierre Rivière is a young peasant who beheaded with one scythe his pregnant mother, his teenage sister and his seven yea. Once arrested, he writes a long memorial to try to explain the reasons of his act.

Herculine Barbin, a hermaphrodite created in convents and boarding femin schools until the age of twenty-two, is forced to accept his "true" male sex and write his memories on a diary.

Both commit suicide.
